Phthalimide, an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H5NO2, is a white crystalline powder.

Slightly soluble in water, ether, benzene, chloroform and ethanol.
Soluble in alkali solution, glacial acetic acid and pyridine.

PERFORMANCE
1. Phthalimide is intermediate in many fine chemicals, including bydyes, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and rubber auxiliaries. For instance, it can be used in the production of phthalein, phthalonitrile, indigo, folpet, insecticide thiophosphorion and so on;
2. Phthalimide is the intermediate of fungicide sterilization, insecticide thiophosphorous imide and herbicide Fenoxon;
3. It can be used in organic synthesis; in the production of high efficiency ion exchange resins, surfactants and heavy metal extractants; in the production of pesticides, dyes, spices, medicine and rubber additives CTP; in the production of high efficiency ion exchange resin, surfactants, etc.
